Huawei celebrated its silver jubilee in Bangladesh

The world-winning Chinese technology brand Huawei has confirmed to lead Smart Bangladesh while celebrating its silver jubilee last night on Thursday, 20 July, 2023. Huawei celebrated the event at the Naboratri hall of ICCB in a festive manner.

Pan Junfeng, CEO of Huawei Bangladesh and President of Huawei South Asia celebrated the 25th anniversary by cutting the cake officially on the stage with the two ministers after serving the cake on the table to the invited guests.

In his welcome speech on the occasion of '25 Years of Togetherness, Journey of Trust, Support and Empowering Bangladesh', he expressed his gratitude to all associates, customers and stakeholders of this sector for their immense cooperation, trust and guidance with their activities and commitments in Bangladesh. 

Jun Feng said, "Huawei started its journey as a trusted partner of Bangladesh many years ago. We have always been on the side of Bangladesh in its development as an emerging economy. In addition, to ensuring employment generation, gender equality and developing the ICT talent ecosystem, we have consistently prioritized the development of Bangladesh over the past 25 years. This trend will continue in the days to come. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Bangladesh and the people of this country for having unwavering trust in us. Inspired by this incredible journey, we will work tirelessly to realize the vision of Smart Bangladesh and contribute to digital transformation.”

While speaking as the chief guest, Planning Minister MA Mannan congratulated for investing one-fifth of the income in research. Before ending his speech by thanking in Mandarin, he said, China is a tested friend of Bangladesh. Huawei has given that friendship a new dimension. They are very ahead in business as well as social responsibility.

The Post and Telecommunication Minister Mustafa Jabbar praised Huawei's innovation and excellence in his greeting speech. He highlighted Huawei's world-leading position as a provider of ICT infrastructure and smart devices, highlighting his experience of visiting UPRO in 2019. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh is moving from digital to smart on the path shown by Bangabandhu and that smart connectivity will be ahead of all in this regard. He said that by 2030, 30 thousand Gbps bandwidth will be used in the country. We will build a smart Bangladesh by the hands of the new generation.

Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yeo Wen spoke as a special guest on the occasion.

Chattogram Stock Exchange Chairman Asif Ibrahim, BTRC Chairman Shyam Sundar Sikdar, ICT Division Secretary Samsul Arefin also spoke.

It may be noted that, Huawei has been contributing to the development and digital transformation of Bangladesh since 1998, inspired by the motto 'In Bangladesh, For Bangladesh'. For the past 25 years, the organization has been focusing on various services and innovative solutions in the ICT and telecommunication sector, ICT skills development, ecosystem development for digital Bangladesh and standing by the people.

Huawei is playing an important role in making 2G, 3G and 4G technology available for the telecom sector and acquiring 5G technology. The company completed the 5G trial in 2018 when the country just entered the 4G era. At the same time, the company has partnered with Teletalk to propel Bangladesh among the world's pioneers in rolling out 5G technology in 2021. At the Digital Bangladesh Mela 2023, the company showcased the latest 5.5G technology and various use cases (digital transformation) related to this sector. In addition, Huawei has helped connect more than 15,000 base transceiver stations (BTS) through fiber.

In 2018, Huawei started providing 'Digital Power' services in Bangladesh and has built multiple large-scale IPP and rooftop solar power plants, including Bangladesh's second-largest solar power plant with a capacity of 50 MW in Mymensingh. To date, Huawei has helped generate approximately 380 million units of renewable electricity through its own equipment, reducing 180,000 tons of carbon emissions, which is equivalent to planting 250,000 trees.

In addition, Huawei provides software, hardware and AI-based cloud solutions for finance, education, governance, health, media, manufacturing, transportation and other sectors.
